Over the years, the Saturn SC’s excellent gas mileage ratings have made it a popular choice for commuters on a budget looking for a slightly sporty flair. With gas mileage ratings that rivaled some of the best from overseas, Saturn aimed to go toe-to-toe with the competition. Saturn achieved laudable gas mileage results by paying particular attention to vehicle weight, as evidenced by the (don’t call them plastic) “dent-resistant polymer body panels.”
The attention-grabbing “accessorized” 2002 Saturn SC (shown above) demonstrated GM’s factory effort to go after a bit of the tuner market … in the looks department.
A 1.9 liter four cylinder engine — in both single overhead cam (SOHC) and dual overhead cam (DOHC) variants — was found under the hood of the SC (depending on the model). The SC1 carried the SOHC engine, which produced 100 horsepower (HP) and 114 foot pounds of torque, while the SC2 was fitted with the more powerful 16-valve DOHC engine, which produced 124 HP and 122 foot pounds of torque.
The SC coupe’s driver’s side third door (shown below) set the coupe apart from the competition, by providing enhanced access to the back seat for loading and unloading.

Hi i have the same car as the blue one on top and your little flare/bodykit on the bottom is really cool and ive been looking for it for awhile now, so i woud really like to know where you got it, and even your spoiler because those are really cool and i really like them, so if you could please email me back to let me know. hi i have found those spoilers like the one on the blue one featured on this page and like the comment above me i have been lookin for about a year now for a lip kit like that or any for my car i am building a show car so if u could give me any information on were to find a lip kit or that one it would me much appreciated thanks
It was a factory option when you purchased the car. Its a xenon polyurethane kit. Its amazing, very durable. Im lowered 2 inches with the kit and it takes a beating. The factory that made them may still have some. Last i heard they still had a few. It and the spoiler are part of the california expression package
