It comes as no surprise that gas mileage has never been one of the Cadillac Escalade’s strong suits. Over the years, the Escalade’s gas mileage has never exceeded 20 miles per gallon (MPG) on the highway, while its city mileage has dwelt in the low teens. Get ready for a magic makeover for one of America’s most indulgent gas hogs. All that changes with the brand new 2009 Escalade Hybrid, which promises a whopping fifty percent improvement in city mileage.
The 2009 Escalade Hybrid’s 2-Mode Hybrid system mates a special transmission and battery pack to the big 6.0 liter V-8 to deliver 20 city and 21 highway MPG. At low speeds, the Escalade Hybrid can be propelled solely under electric power. At higher speeds, the gasoline engine and electric motor work in tandem. When you really put your foot in it, the gasoline engine takes over. Active Fuel Management shuts down half of the V-8’s cylinders under light loads to achive better gas mileage while cruising at highway speeds. Auto engine shut off turns the gasoline engine off when the Escalade Hybrid is stopped, saving additional fuel.

I have an Escalade ESV 2007 loaded $70,000 vehicle
14,000 miles on it, white diamond 18″ polish wheels and all.
I want to trade for an Escalade Hybrid 2009, my car is worth about half of retail
price and they don’t want either so why should I buy another Cadillac Escalade
when in two years it will be worth nothing again. I would take $40,000 for it any buyers.
No market for these vehicles with gas so high. I’d only buy one used if it was a steal at this point. You have to realize that if you buy one you are pretty much stuck with it. Doesn’t matter what you paid because they can’t sell them right now. I work from home so Im in the market for one if the price is right.
I Just brought a preown Cadillac Escalade ESV and I love this vehicle. It may not get the best gas mileage. But the comport and power makes up for it. and if you can afford to buy a Escalade gas should not be a problem. I highly recommend the Cadillac Escalade. When I am ready to buy a new vehicle there is no question it will be a Cadillac Escalade.
I agree with Joe i bought and o4 EXT, awesome truck. But im thinking of buying a K&N cold air intake for it to improve the gas mileage a lil but my question is if its worth it? any suggestions on how to improve mpg on this babes?
